3.2.1 Concept Design Phase
Architectural teams are responsible for developing the project’s spatial logic, form, and circulation based on the client’s program and site conditions. Key tasks include:
- Translating the space program into a preliminary layout and functional zoning diagram
- Exploring massing options, orientation strategies, and contextual integration
- Identifying core elements: main entrances, vertical circulation, toilet groups, and service zones
- Establishing preliminary floor-to-floor heights and gross area distributions
- Coordinating early site utilization including setbacks, vehicle access, and landscape zones
Architectural outputs include concept plans, sketches, 3D massing views, and narrative descriptions that express the spatial and aesthetic intent of the project.
